i’ve had a few readers ask about my heatless curls, so ive decided to do my first video (be kind, haha) and hopefully help ya ๐ im also posting pictures below the video of the days following after i used the flexi-rods. and you already know i dont use mousse or gel or hairspray or anything.
if you haven’t yet, see my original post for heatless curls HERE!
this video doesn’t show me rolling my entire head (because i already have a post for that) but shows the TWO different techniques. the second is my favorite!
day one of heatless curls (and GRADUATION DAY!)

Hey Alex, I’ve dyed my hair a lot in the past and it’s starting to thin really bad and it’s breaking easily. I’m able to see my scalp and it’s kinda scaring me. Lol. Do you have any suggestions on any good deep conditioning or any shampoo & conditioner I should start using? Please help me! Thank you! And by the way you are GORGEOUS and have a cute personality!
hey diane! thanks for reaching out. i’d highly recommend coconut oil hair masks, as well as a low-poo (shampoo without all the junk). you can work the coconut oil into your scalp and through the length of your hair to nourish it and deep condition it. it should help promote hair growth as well. i have a how-to post Here. for shampoo/conditioner, Here’s a list to look at to get started. this shampoo sounds like it’d be a good fit for you.
also, i think you should consider doing a protein mask to help the current damage. you can do this with eggs or natural gelatin (not the jello stuff). i hope this helps!
and Thank You so much!!! haha
Awesome! Thank you so much!
Hahaha, you’re so cute, you make me laugh. Have you ever seen that tv sitcom “New Girl”? You totally remind me of her in some ways. Hehehe
you’re my new favorite person, amber!!!!! you have no idea how much i LOVE zooey deschanel!!
The video is super – cute! AND I wanna see your cat giving you the evil eye ๐
haha thanks lenka! I need to post a couple pics of her evil eye. it’ll get ya! haha
my mom used flexi rods on my sisters and I when we were younger, and I totally forgot about them. I just went out and bought some today…can’t wait to try them, I love curls. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous. Congrats on graduating ๐
awesome! & thank you!!
congrats (: thought the tutorial was great, very clear! i just got mine in the mail today (ordered after reading your blog) can’t wait to try!
thanks! & awesome; lemme know how you like them ๐
Congrats! Also, what do you do with your hair over night? I never know how to make my hair/curls look great after waking up with my mess of hair!
thank you so much! and if my hair isnt curled, I usually put it in a low, loose ponytail or just let it go all over…not the best haha. if it’s curled, I twist it up in a loose bun or clip it up ๐
Congrats on your Masters! I love the video its really helpful! I’ve never heard of flexi rods before – I definitely want to get some now ๐
thank you so much!! when you get ’em, lemme know what you think!
Congratulations on graduating! I love the heatless curls but my budget is tight. Found this on Pinterest and it works just as well. I can go up to 4-5 days between washing and they hold that long. Tames my wavy hair without product and cheap to boot! ๐ http://pinterest.com/pin/200762095861510178/
so funny you mentioned that! i had a part of the video that talked about other ways i curl my hair, but it made the video too long. anyway, that was one of the ways ๐ love it!
thanks ashley!
Not to say that the flex rods are expensive, it’s just that we are pinching pennies over here. lol Wanted to also say thanks for giving me the push to slowly work my way to a chemical free beauty routine. Hair is doing much better and my skin seems to be coming around, albeit slowly but it’s getting there. I put up my no ‘poo experience on my blog if you want to know the nitty gritty. lol Thanks again. ๐
i completely understand ๐ and thank YOU for trying it! i’ll be scoping out your blog shortly!! yay!
ah, and thank you so much!!
Congratulations on your achievement both graduating and the video. Looks great, and it helps to see how to do it.
thank you so so so much!! ๐
