welcome back to NO-POO WEEK, day 6! sadly, almost done…
as we know, no-‘poo isn’t for everyone. & when it does work, it’s not really a “one-size fits all” deal. it’s so tricky and different for everyone!
so what happens when no-‘poo doesn’t work? or if you want to get away from the chemicals, but still use some sort of shampoo/conditioner?
enter “low-‘poo.” 🙂
what is low-‘poo?
it’s a no-‘poo alternative for those who want to get away from the chemicals in hair products, but still want a shampoo/conditioner as we know it. low-‘poo involves buying products, but ones that don’t any contain harmful ingredients.
i’ve gone through some sites and stores and have come up with this SMALL list of low-‘poo alternatives. different organic stores have different kinds, so it’d still be worth it to go out and look 🙂 remember to always check the ingredients to make sure they don’t include any sulfates, silicones, parabens, fragrance, etc!
these options are organic and/or natural. i’ve looked at all the ingredients for each one and given them a thumbs up, in addition to the good ‘ol EWG’s database. my standards are much pickier than the EWG when it comes to what i trust on my body. there were some shampoos and conditioners i found were rated as a 1, but had a slew of chemicals in them not derived from plants and/or vegetables. so this little list is pretty darn clean! also, i’ve stayed away from shampoo bars, castile shampoos, and shampoo clays/”muds” for this post. that’ll be for another time! i’ve also tried to stick to brands you can find in stores so you don’t have to deal with online stuff & shipping & waiiiiting! but a couple are online.
- shea moisture
- morrocco method
- 100% pure
- nourish organics
- desert essence
- pure liquid coconut soap (i can’t for the life of me remember the brand. but it’s in my local organic store. it’s in a tall cylindrical bottle with an “older” look to the label… cream with brown..maybe yellow or orange too?)
for you low-‘poo-ers – what brands do you use & trust? let’s add to the lists 🙂
(& confession… i bought the shea moisture shampoo because i wanted to use it SO BAD. i haven’t yet, because i’m doing the rinse only method… but…. i really want to…egh. i look at it on my desk every day. i’ll definitely review it if i try it. should i do it?? if not, i suppose i could host another give-away…hmm…)
and for those that aren’t no-‘poo-ers, this post can also be referred to as-
