enhance your curls and waves… the safe way ;)

while talking with one AE reader, ramsey, i was inspired to make a whole post on how to enhance the waves and curls you have! who doesn’t love sexy mermaid hair? haha!

here are some hair products that will enhance your curls & waves to be the best they can be! these are no-poo/low-poo friendly and don’t contain any harmful ingredients! (no silicones, parabens, sulfates, etc.!). i sifted through 293874 curl products and these are the only ones i could find that i’d feel completely comfortable recommending.

what a quick post! this is probably the shortest ever!

any readers have any all-natural curl and/or wave creams they love!?

and now i’m off on a big jet plane back to the big city i now reluctantly call home…

both great songs that talk about planes… (my first love of course!)

  1. Hi there! I was sick and tired of buying the salon gel for my curls. I searched online and found a very simple, cheap and effective method of getting beautiful curls for a FRACTION of the cost. 1/2 cup boiling water and about a half tsp. of unflavoured gelatine. Stir and mix the gelatine into the water and then let settle in the fridge for 3 hours. I usually make up a batch just before bed and let it set overnight. After it’s set, you can add a few drops of your favourite essential oils should you please. This mixture can be left in the fridge for about a week. I usually have to take the bowl out of the fridge, smooth the mixture between my hands and scruch it into towel dried hair. I do this over the tub incase some gelatine falls from my hands. But let me tell you, it’s worth it. My hair is so shiny and once it dries I can scrunch it out and my curls are bouncy and manageable. Give it a shot!

  2. hi! i’m new to your blog and new to no poo. i’ve been using a baking soda/water spray and then rinsing it in ACV/water spray. i’ve got curly hair and have always washed my hair daily. i quit using products too. i’d love to know your opinion on:

how often to use the sprays?
can i use coconut oil/water to help rehydrate sometimes?
any home products to help style?

  3. With the Kinky-curly brand, do you know if other products in the line ie the shampoo and conditioner are ok to use?

    1. she has recommended the whole brand elsewhere (I think there’s another curly product post if I remember right) so I believe they are

  4. Hello,

This is related to hair but maybe not so much curls, i am going to start with an organic shampoo and then onto the no poo altogether but heat is still required for me because if i let my hair “air dry” after washing in the evening it still wont be dry in the morning? anything i can do to help it dry quicker without heat? it just holds onto the water, which is probably why i know its in bad condition hence my reason for starting this.

  5. Heya!

I have naturally wavy/curly hair but have been habitually brushing it all out, into a ponytail all my,life trying to ‘tame’ my hair…

I am,currently on week 4 low poo: wash my hair with castille-homemade coconut milk-essential oil mixed shampoo and i add a few drops of,coconut oil to my wet hair, wrap in a towel for half an,hour… That seems,to,condition my hair and, seal in the moisture as,well,as,really define my curls and the curls stay for hours!!!!

    1. I’ve just found your site and am busy wading through all your posts. I’ve just started the no-poo adventure and my curls are currently in rebellion. I have a bunch of the Shea Moisture kids/curl products. Are these good options?

  6. I use Kinky Curly Custard and love it, my hair has a tendency towards waves naturally and it amps up the potential! Very soft to touch as well 🙂 Great blog, I visit often, keep it up!!
