  1. What brand mascara do you use? I love the colour and shape of it. Can’t wait to try it 🙂

  2. Hey Alex! So I have read every post you have ever done, and on the one about makeup I was wandering I know you like Shea Moisture which I love as we’ll now thanks to your recommendation!! And they now have a makeup line out there! I was wandering if you could read the ingredients and maybe do a post! I think everyone would LOVE that as you can buy it at Target Or easily online. If not I’d love if you could just let me know! 😉 your awesome and need to give yourself more credit I don’t think your video sucked at all!

  3. Thanks so much for your video! I’m new to this crunchy thing and am 2 weeks into my no’poo experience and ready to tackle make-up. I wasn’t able to catch the name of the concealer you said you used. What brand is it? Thanks for all of your information!

  4. Ah! I was so excited when I saw that you were showing your makeup bag because I had been wondering what you use for eyeliner. But maybe that was just me, because you didn’t share any eyeliner, so do you really not wear eyeliner? I seriously thought it looked like you did haha!

    1. hey mary! the mascara smudges when i put it on, so i’ve been strategically smearing it as a smokey eyeliner with a q-tip. i also use charcoal/aloe as an eyeliner. for nights out, i use wet n wild (eek!), but it’s a 2 on EWG, and i only use it sparingly.

  5. Hey! Thanks for this! I will say that there wasn’t that much to see in your makeup bag, but that’s what the whole point was. My makeup bag is currently brimming over with stuff, but I’ve been thinking about switching to, well, not using so much makeup. The fact that you can manage with so little is awesome. I will not throw out the stuff that I have now, but I will probably not replace most of the things either. Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. Hi Alex! So this is completely unrelated to his post but I’m having some issues with me no poo regime. I’ve been doing no poo for over a month now and everything was going fine. I clarified, washed my hair with bs/acv once a week, brushed with a bbb…the whole shebang. Everything was fine for a while but now my hair has this really weird feeling to it. I don’t know how to describe it except it feels like I have a weird film about midway down the shaft of my hair. It has this weird slightly oily but slightly dry feeling to it too which I didn’t even know was possible. When I brush with my bbb it gets absolutely loaded with crud instantly. I’m not sure why this is happening all of a sudden…it’s been fine for weeks and all of a sudden this is happening. Am I doing something wrong??

    1. hey sarah! do you have hard water? if so, it could be mineral buildup. it also sounds like it could just be sebum buildup, which would be why you’re seeing crud on your BBB so fast. try washing your hair from scalp to ends with a large egg yolk mixed into a cup of water. that should clean everything up and also help with the dry feeling. just be sure to use cool water because you won’t want scrambled eggs on your head 🙂 haha. but no, it doesn’t sound like you’re doing anything wrong!

  7. Thank you for posting this! I’ve been wondering what concealer you use and how you blend it because I’m tired of spending the money on Tarte brand (which is free of parabens, mineral oil, phalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, and gluten, but I still can’t pronounce most of the ingredients…). Thank you also for sharing the brands you use, I know you do your research 🙂

I do have a couple questions, do you blend the kaolin clay only on the concealer or all over your face? Can you recommend a good pressed powder? and Can you recommend a good blush?

Also, I live in Michigan, so I can’t wait to head down to the natural foods store and pick up some Sanatio lip balm 🙂

  8. It was all worth it just for the cat scream at the end. I mess with my dog like that all the time, so funny! P.S. I love your blog & thanks to you I dove in head first and my beauty routine has been chemical free for 3 months
