catch-up #9

happy monday tuesday, crunchies!

it’s been quite some time since we had a catch-up post. i can’t call them weekly now, can i? haha!

today’s post is gonna feature some products i’ve been testing out to share with you – a facial oil, body balm, lip tints, and eye cream. if you want more details on any of these, please ask! and as always, please share your experiences with us below!

ASTER + BAY. i’ve had my eye set on this husband & wife company for such a long time now, debating whether i can splurge on an oil they had. all of their products, as their website states, are “made with raw plant ingredients only, and never any chemicals, preservatives or synthetics” – how perfect! what’s even cooler? they’re here making all this magic in my backyard! well, not really, but they do also live in atlanta! the product i finally bought myself was the indigo therapy oil. it contains blue tansy, blue chamomile, and blue yarrow that give the oil its beautiful, naturally deep blue color. normally i would DIY a facial serum, but blue tansy is crazy expensive and it wouldn’t make sense for me to purchase them all separately. and not only that, but i haven’t researched enough to know about the best blends for these ingredients. this naturally potent reparative is best suited for those needing something anti-inflammatory, or for acne, allergies, rashes, or sunburns. i love this oil! it’s surprisingly fast-absorbing while leaving a dewy glow. the scent is hard to describe, but i like it. it smells like you’re sniffing a combo of 2/3 freshly boiled pasta, 1/3 the forest, and a dash of spice. i also purchased the small rosewater mist. oh my, it smells so good! it’s a strong floral scent (rose, ylang-ylang, and honeysuckle), which i adore. also, it’s pink from the himalayan salt – cute! with this combo of hydrosols and salt, you can absolutely use it from head to toe. it’d be a great balancing spray for your skin as well as your hair.

BADGER BALM. of course i’m coming back to my beloved badger balm! this time around i’ve tested the anti-bug balm in the thick of the southern heat in the woods, around water, and in water. for some reason, bugs love me. they see me outside and eat me up like cake. it’s terrible! but i’ve struck gold with this balm, guys. it feels like their other balms with a noticeable shea butter base. it smells strongly of a citrusy/woodsy citronella candle, which has been pretty lovely! because this product is an oil balm, it does stay a bit greasy. most importantly – my body has no bug bites! i got sweaty, i played around in a creek, etc., but no bug bites were ever found! amazing. you can see it doesn’t take much at all per use. when the day comes that i need more, i’ll definitely be repurchasing.

100% PURE CAFFEINE EYE CREAM. this company is super well-known in the green beauty community so maybe an introduction isn’t necessary. basically – they’re a super awesome beauty company that sells everything from makeup to lotion. i’m not one for eye creams (or purchasing them for that matter – you know i love to DIY), but after receiving the caffeine eye cream sample, i knew i’d be buying the full-sized product. and yes, i did as soon as my sample was running low. this stuff moisturizes and de-puffs my cat-allergy-eyes like none other. it’s the freakin bees-knees, people. the product information also says some people also saw lightening of dark under-eye circles. i’ve been using it for a couple months and haven’t noticed that, but honestly i don’t care. it’s such a beautiful de-puffing magical cream that i’ll continue to repurchase. my sample pack lasted me over a month with daily use, so i can imagine the full-sized product at 1 ounce will take me forever to get through. i really appreciate this in a product for a couple reasons – first: it’s made with non-diluted, quality ingredients; second: it’s easier on the wallet over time. if you’re in the market to buy instead of DIY, the sticker price of $25 can seem steep (or am i just THAT cheap?) for 1 ounce of an eye cream, but it will last you such a long time. it’s been a great splurge for myself. and honestly, you guys know i don’t absolutely gush over things i don’t believe in. this might sound weird, but i really look forward to using it every morning. it smells amazing, soaks in fast, and feels super awesome!

here are the ingredients (taken from 100% Pure’s website):

Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe) Leaf Juice*, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water (Organic Rose Hydrosol)*, Rosa Canina Seed Extract (Rosehip Oil), Coffea Arabica (Organic Green Coffee) Seed Extract*, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Extracts of Coffea Arabica (Coffee Cherry) Seed, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf, Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal), Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla Absolute) Fruit, Euphorbia Cerifera Cera (Candelilla Wax) * Certified Organic

HEMP LOVE ORGANICS. a few weeks back i purchased a couple shades of lip tints to try – love & berry. this particular brand uses hemp oil to nourish and moisturize, along with other natural ingredients for a colorful pop! the formula is very smooth, and is very shiny once on. i’m hesitant to say this, but i would akin it to the feeling of a very thick lip gloss, but without any tackiness at all. i hope that makes sense. overall they’re great – very moisturizing, very buildable pigment, and very glossy. they’re probably a tad overpriced, but that seems to be the case with all-natural lip tints and lipsticks. *le sigh*

have you guys ever tried any of these products or companies? what are your thoughts/experiences/suggestions/etc.? let’s hear it!

  1. Thanks for the reviews. I always check out and end up loving the products. I am also happy to report that I FINALLY found a natural deodorant that works for me. The company is Sam’s Naturals and it is amazing! Some of the scents are artificial but plenty aren’t. I love the sandalwood. Anyway… Thanks, again. Keep up the awesome work. 🙂
