100% Pure foundation review

100% Pure is an incredible company with incredible green beauty products. a few months back i posted here on AE about my search for the perfect all-natural foundation, and they very graciously reached out and offered to send me some to try. these people are seriously the sweetest!

i was sent 3 different types of foundations, all in the color “white peach” – fruit pigmented healthy skin foundation, tinted moisturizer, and water foundation.

hopefully this review will help you choose a foundation you like! and as always – be sure to share your two cents with us so we can all benefit!

here are my own personal opinions on the foundations! and check out those ingredients… hello, beautiful!

all foundations in shade “white peach”: HSF = healthy skin foundation; TM = tinted moisturizer; SWF = sheer water foundation

please note that links in this post are not affiliates. i only provided them so you can check out the products directly on the 100% Pure site.

healthy skin foundation

out of the 3, i felt this one was the most “foundation” like. it’s a medium coverage foundation, and was able to help conceal my under-eye circles. i found it best used when your skin is prepped with a serum or moisturizer, then blended out with a beauty blender (generic versions are fine). otherwise this foundation can get cakey and crease, or highlight dry patches.

if you have dry or mature skin, this might not be the best foundation for you. however, i did find that mixing the foundation with your favorite face oil in your palm before applying will make it work. just keep in mind it’ll be less than medium coverage when you’re mixing it with oils or sheering it out a bit with moisturizers.

they also have this formula in a powder version, which sounds really great. i haven’t tried it, but can others who have please comment below with your thoughts? thanks!

best use: medium to full coverage (including under eye circles and breakouts); in combination with a serum/moisturizer; matte finish
best skin type: oily/normal/combo

ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice*, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Pigmented Extracts of: Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Bean) and Lycium Chinese (Goji Berry) Fruit, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai Berry) Fruit Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Extracts of: Cerifera Cera (Candelilla Wax), Organic Camellia Sinensis (Ferment White Tea) Leaf*, Coffea Arabica (Coffee Cherry) Seed, Aristotelia Chilensis (Maqui Berry), Vitis Vinifera (Muscadine Grape) Skin, Garcinia Mangostana (Mangosteen) Peel, Malpighia Punicifolia (Acerola) Fruit, Sambucus Canadensis (Elderberry), Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed, Lonicera Caprifolium (Japanese Honeysuckle) Active Ingredients: 15% Titanium Dioxide, 10% Zinc Oxide

tinted moisturizer

the tinted moisturizer was exactly that – very moisturizing with light coverage. it helped to even my skin tone and gave it a nice glow. i’d advise to use a little at a time to look dewy, to avoid looking greasy. 1 pump was good for my entire face, even though i don’t usually put makeup all over. my skin is used to oils (i use them often on my face), but for my skin type in particular, the oil formulation is too heavy for my skin for every day use outside of winter and late fall. it’d be absolutely great for those beauties with dry to combo skin, that can handle more oils.

it did give my skin a nice glow when i sheered it out with a beauty blender, but note that it does have an orange hue to it. i think a shade lighter would be better suited for my skin in particular. i did really like it when it was mixed with the super fruits foundation at a ratio of 2:1, respectively. you can definitely make it work for all skin types with some tweaking if you want the all-over glow and evened out complexion.

** this foundation is on sale on the 100% Pure website as of 1/22/16.

best use: light coverage; daily moisturizer to even skin tone; natural to dewy looking finish
best skin type: dry/combo/normal

ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe) Leaf Juice*, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Juice, Euterpe Oleracea (Acai Berry) Fruit Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Extracts of Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit, Camellia Sinensis (Organic White Tea) Leaf*, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Bean), Lycium Chinense (Goji Berry) Fruit and Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Extracts of Euphorbia Cerifera Cera (Candelilla Wax), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf, Lonicera Caprifolium Flower, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Hydrastis Canadensis (Goldenseal), Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Bark; Active Ingredients: 15% Titanium Dioxide, 10% Zinc Oxide

sheer water foundation

this foundation was very sheer and moisturizing, just as described. i can see it being used to give your skin an all-over glow/dewy look, but it won’t cover anything up. this one also is wonderful as a base for the super fruits foundation! it should leave your face feeling supple and soft!

i passed this one onto my mom, who loves it! she has combo mature skin, just for reference, and follows a skin care routine that includes oils.

best use: all-over glow; dewy finish
best skin type: normal/combo/dry/mature

ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf (Organic Aloe Juice)*, Extracts of Prunus Persica (Peach) Fruit, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit, Daucus Carota (Carrot) Sativa Root Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Bean) and Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem, Zinc Oxide, Euterpe Oleracea Pulp (Acai) Oil, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Resveratrol (Red Wine Resveratrol), Alpha Lipoic Acid, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Extracts of Rosmarinus (Rosemary) Officinalis Leaf, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris (Thymus) Flower/Leaf Extract, Vegetable Glycerine, Lonicera Caprifolium (Japanese Honeysuckle)

when picking your color, keep in mind that the same color will differ just within these 3 formulations. the water foundation was a darker shade than the tinted moisturizer, and the tinted moisturizer was a darker shade than the super fruits foundation, even though i received the shade “white peach” for all of them. white peach super fruits foundation was a tad too light for my skin, but when i mixed it with the tinted moisturizer, it was a good match.

i’d say the wear on these is 6 to 8 hours before it wears away/oxides, which is great for an all-natural foundation. of course your skin type will also determine the wear of the makeup.

if you’re in the market for a foundation, i’d suggest trying these out for size! i do wish you could get samples for matching skin tones, especially since green beauty foundations on the whole tend to be more pricey than the ones we want to stay away from. (better ingredients do cost more to grow, harvest, and use in production though!)
